Good Day Ranch Family!!

Life On The Farm: I want you all to remember before scrolling down....I love my husband....still. You scrolled down didn't you. Well now you know why Justin isn't allowed to have a BBQ. Grandma M., Kyrna and I were on our way home from Carman Fair and Justin being the great man he is decided he would make us all a steak supper after a long day of showing horses. We gladly accepted his invite. The day before when we were leaving I had said to Justin as I was walking out the door.

"Please move the BBQ to the other side of the deck, remember what happened when the BBQ was there before. I do not want my siding ruined any more than it already is."

I'm sure at that point I gave him the death glare because he said to me not too worry.

Well I didn't worry at all....however when we got out of the truck as I was making my way to the door all I could smell was burnt plastic. I had said out loud, "The man burned my house...." Grandma was in disbelief however I have ALL the faith in my husband and sure enough as I turned the corner this is what I saw.

My first concern after seeing the extent of the damage was if Justin was ok. I was scared he had burned himself however since it was still smouldering he didn't have a chance to tell me he was alright and shared that the regulater came off or broke and when he looked out the window all he seen was flames. All I really wanted to do was crack him in the head with the flipper, but Justin was so sorry about it and had already started to create another meal for us...which was not steak. So I made a deal, since he did't move the BBQ to the other side of the deck like I had asked and he melted my house like I asked him NOT to do, the deal is he has to replace the vinyl siding with cedar shakes before he gets a BBQ. We are one step further in getting to eat BBQ'd steaks again because Justin has the cedar shakes in the feed shed just waiting to be put on. I will update you as progress is made. Justin was just really happy we are still married!

Recommendations: One of our most favorite books is DIRT TO SOIL by Gabe Brown. Hudson even sat and listened while I read it, so he could "be a better farmer". He learned about the carbon cycle and the 4 legged grass eaters we have here on the farm. When one of them living lawn mowers chews down grass, the plant they chewed off sucks carbon from the atmosphere and microbes in the soil bring up nutrients such as phosporus, nitrogen, calcium to exchange carbon for nutrients. Isn't that the most amazing thing you have heard all day. So cattle sequester carbon deep into the ground (grass has tap roots) everytime they bite off grass....as do the horses. Any and everytime! Yes you! Even when you mow your grass this is what you are doing is sequestering carbon. To have healthy soil we also need to have a diverse crop and diverse microbes in the soil.....just like our guts. You know probiotics, you get from the health food store to replenish your gut microbiome like those. We need microbes like that in our soils to bring up nutrients. We can have tonnes of nutrients in our soils however if the delivery vehicles (MICROBES) are not there to bring up the nutrients to the roots of the plants....the magic of life just ceases to exist. Our soils are like our immune systems & intestines. The next time your kid eats dirt....meh! They are just helping their immune system LOL!

Appreciation: We are very appreciative of all of our customers and last friday evening delivering eggs I had one very special customer who had such kind words and such encouragement it brought me to tears. We love you too Mrs. Oswald!
