Livestock help draw down carbon into the soil by eating the plant. When a plant is eaten it needs more carbon to grow, sucking carbon out of the atmosphere and exchanging it in the soil through microbes for nutrients. " REGENERATIVE LAND MANAGEMENT Regenerative land management is a set of principles and practices which reverse current trends of degradation in soil, water and air quality by enhancing the soil ecosystem and restoring its biology. Regenerative land management aims to drawdown atmospheric carbon into soil and the aboveground biomass, helping to reverse climate change. At the same time, it increases climate resilience in the face of drought, floods, and extreme weather events. Rebuilding soil organic matter reduces dependence on chemicals and pesticides, results in more nutrient dense food, and generates greater economic viability for farmers. Regenerative land management is also about improving animal welfare, providing fairness for farmers, ranchers, and workers, and growing resilient regional ecosystems and communities." -https://regenerationcanada.org/en/why-soil/
In a ever changing world it is nice to know your food production source is secure. To have a direct connection to your Rancher is one of the most beneficial relationships a family could have. What exactly is food security? Nutritional value, distribution, food safety, non-contamination, availability of food.... We here at Spirit Sands Ranch know how much our land can handle during a wet year, or a dry year. There have been times our land has gone 7 weeks with no rain and STILL we were able to feed our animals ample amounts of grass and produce more than enough hay to even sell some. This means the soil on our land holds more water increasing its resiliency to droughts and floods. Every year this improves and its amazing to watch the changes.

Protein
is
important!
Protein is made from 20 essential amino acids; some food sources have more protein and/or a better balance of the individual amino acids. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and protein is the foundation of hair, skin, bones, ligaments, tendons, your brain...virtually every part of you is built with protein.
Protein is vital for nearly every cellular function, our metabolism, the regulation of all tissues and organs including muscle, enzymes and enzymatic function.
