Look down below, you will see a mess. This morning after realizing kids get to go to do things like high school Rodeo, Cadets and various other things while I get to remain frustrated at a mess I didn't create.... after asking nicely, then demanding and now I am charging them $$$ to clean the mess they made when living their BEST LIFE!
I am not a maid, a chauffeur or a chef... I am a mother. What does being a mother mean to me.... it means teaching my children how to be thriving/productive members in society and in their own personal lives. It means teaching them how to have boundaries and how to live their BEST LIFE! (Next time it will be High School Rodeo and Cadets... I'm not messin' around)
Explaining to them mice and bugs will gather in these areas, then sickness follows. They didn't create time to do the things they needed to do to function as a contributing member of the household.
As a mother when they were small, I had to do it all on my own. As they grew, they were given age-appropriate chores and reasons for the chores. Every now and again like everyone else.... they need a kick in the PANTS to remind them of why these things are important. Having a clean, tidy, orderly life makes a big difference and needs to be valued. It also is a boundary issue....ex. If I go into your bedroom and your toys and things are all over the floor then you have not had the boundaries/discipline needed to stay tidy and you have too many things to be responsible for, meaning life has gotten out of hand.
THIS DOES HAPPEN IN OUR HOUSE. So, then we reset.
Here is a great quote: "Your boundary is the amount you can give with a regulated nervous system." - Dr. Alexandra H Solomon (teacher, therapist, author)
So... my nervous system had enough.... my boundary had been crossed. I had reached my limit as a mother. Frustrated not only with them... with myself. I'm fixing it by creating a consequence system.
I had promised (threatened... then followed through) if they did not clean out the closet, I would put the recycle and garbage in there and put the animal food bins in another inconvenient spot. So not only are they each paying $25 for me to clean the dog food/cat food closet & the laundry room they get to have the dog/cat food downstairs by their rooms now.
RANT OVER.
Lesson: Respect people's boundaries. Make sure you have some.

Get creative... in all parts of your life! Creation is what keeps us feeling alive and growing as individuals. Grab one of your blah t-shirts and look up a video like this....(click on the words)
Cut your t-shirts and get ready for some summer fun... learn to sew and create pieces of clothing that are uniquely you! Invest in your creativity and realize that you are worth it!
Creativity changes how a person functions internally!
It affects your brain, your nervous system, your identity, and even your sense of meaning.
Builds new neural pathways (neuroplasticity), you become more adaptable and solution-oriented
Activates the default mode network (imagination + inner world), this is where insight, intuition, and big-picture thinking come from
Releases dopamine, you feel motivation, satisfaction and a quiet sense of reward
Overtime creative people don't just make things- they think differently. They see connections others miss.
What creativity does to your nervous system:
Creativity regulates your body in a powerful way:
Moves you out of stress (flight/fight)
Brings you into presence (parasympathetic state)
Creates a feeling of "flow" (timeless, calm focus)
This is why:
Writing clears your head
Designing in Canva feels grounding
Creating something on the RANCH feels deeply satisfying
Creativity shifts you from:
reacting --> EXPRESSING
consuming --> CREATING
surviving --> SHAPING YOUR LIFE
APPRECIATION: We would like to extend our appreciation out to Papa Moyer for lending us his QUAD for the summer and Grandma Moyer for using her horse trailer with sleeping quarters and staying with Kyrna at the rodeos and being such a big part of our lives! We love you guys!!
